Science Centres - Evidence and Investigation

I can analyze the ink from different pens, using paper chromatography

I can analyze handwriting samples to identify the handwriting of a specific person

I can compare samples of fabric

I can classify fingerprints, soil samples, and footprints

We had a blast working through science centres on Wednesday! We used our detective skills to solve mysteries and identify the culprits!

We collected our fingerprints using tape and graphite. We identified a vandalizing suspect using paper chromatography. We analyzed teacher handwriting samples to identify the author of a ransom note asking for 40 bars of chocolate! We looked at a partial shoe print to identify a misbehaving baby. We looked closely at soil samples using a microscope. And finally, we looked at fabric samples to identify a match.

And a HUGE thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers who came to help us! We appreciate you!
